A team favourite; Lights Out will revisit The Grand Pavilion, Matlock Bath on 12th October. Steeped in history this majestic Edwardian building sits spectacularly in the idyllic village of Matlock Bath in Derbyshire. The warm spa waters of Matlock Bath had already been drawing in visitors for a long time, so when the railway arrived in 1849 it created a massive surge in tourism. In 1910, the Grand Pavilion was built, on the site of a former stables and black smiths yard next to the river Derwent, with the intentions of hosting a diverse range of entertainment that would appeal to a wide variety of locals and visitors.
Over the years The Grand Pavilion has been used to host many different events, from silent movies, military bands, dances, a skating rink and more recently was a nightclub, known as ‘The Pav’ by locals. This beloved building however has seen its fair share of tragedies, with some reported deaths on site. Ghost hunters have previously investigated this building and have described the paranormal activity as “some of the most mind-blowing we have seen in any of our investigations over the years” with others reporting apparitions, hearing footsteps and other unexplained sounds… So grab your torches and join us as we hope to discover the spirits who roam this building and the stories they hold.
